This practical training focuses on the implementation of all five trauma-informed principles and builds on the Foundations in Trauma Awareness.
 
The importance of connection and collaboration between worker and client is key for resilience and recovery. Building safe relationships with worker and service is critical. Embedding the trauma informed principles into everyday practice creates the safety for healing to begin.

This program looks at practical skills to create a safe base to work from and to understand signs of potential trauma and apply the foundational knowledge of complex trauma to your work.

By participating in this training program, participants will:

  • Explore dimensions of safety and its applications
  • Discuss ways of introducing trauma sensitive conversations 
  • Identify key skills needed to apply a trauma lens when working with our clients
  • Apply the five trauma informed principles to the workplace and identify key areas to build upon in practice 

The Foundations for Building Trauma Awareness is a prerequisite for registrants so as to ground themselves in the understanding of trauma and its impacts. Alternatively registrants must have attended a similar training with this as previously gained knowledge. 

Who should attend?

This training program is not clinically focussed and will suit those who provide services to people who have experienced trauma. It is applicable to diverse sectors including, but not limited to, health, mental health, alcohol and other drugs services, community, legal, justice, domestic and family violence, child protection, emergency, disability, housing, settlement, and employment services.

The Foundations for Building Trauma Awareness is a prerequisite for registrants so as to ground themselves in the understanding of trauma and its impacts. Alternatively registrants must have attended a similar training with this as previously gained knowledge.
