Health Practitioners
Blue Knot invites applications from health practitioners to be listed on the Blue Knot Helpline Referral Database. Current listings include psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers, as well as mental health nurses, psychiatrists, general practitioners, and other mental health service providers.
Applicants must demonstrate an ability to provide trauma-informed therapeutic services relevant to working with adult survivors of childhood trauma and abuse, details of their professional registration and two professional references attesting to their experience in providing trauma-informed therapy. Applicants who provide this documentation are listed on the Referral Database.
Blue Knot Foundation does not otherwise accredit or endorse any health practitioner on the Referral Database. Health practitioners who accept referrals through the Referral Database do so as independent practitioners, even where they are or have been employees or contractors with the Blue Knot Foundation. Apart from maintaining and using the Referral Database, Blue Knot Foundation has no role in the referral process or any subsequent treatment provided and receives no financial benefit from the referral. It is solely the responsibility of the service user to ascertain the appropriateness of any health practitioner for their particular needs.
Any complaint or concern about a health practitioner who is listed on the Referral Database should be submitted to the relevant State or Territory health complaints body or professional association. Blue Knot Foundation is not able to investigate or determine complaints. If Blue Knot Foundation is notified in writing that a complaint against a practitioner listed on the Referral Database has been submitted to a relevant complaints body, the practitioner’s listing on the Referral Database will be suspended until the outcome of the complaint is known. Blue Knot Foundation will advise the practitioner about the suspension of their listing. The discretion to list, retain or remove a health professional from the Referral Database rests solely with Blue Knot Foundation.
