Trauma Informed Diversity Awareness (Masterclass)

One Day Training

Delivered by one of Blue Knot Foundation’s most experienced trainers, Dragan Zan Wright is a transgender psychotherapist and trainer who has worked extensively in the fields of Gender Diversity, Complex Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care and Practice.

This experiential one-day professional development training goes beyond ‘standard’ LGBTIQ diversity training. This masterclass fosters the knowledge and skills to work competently and confidently with the growing number of transgender people accessing therapeutic and other services. It explores the intersectionality of complex trauma, discrimination, and minority stress to build understanding on how these factors impact the health of transgender people.

Participants gain a practical and inclusive framework for implementing trauma-informed principles within best practice guidelines when working with transgender and gender diverse populations, aligning policies and procedures with existing legislation.

By participating in this professional development training, participants will:

  • Apply an understanding of the intersectionality of complex trauma, discrimination and minority stress and their impact on health to work effectively with transgender people accessing your service
  • Embed trauma-informed and gender affirmative care principles within an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach when working with transgender clients
  • Apply knowledge and skills to develop a practical inclusive framework for implementing gender affirmative change in your organization based on best practice and current legislation
  • Acquire confidence in using current language and definitions in the evolving landscape of language pertaining to transgender people

Who should attend?

Anyone working privately or within an organisation that provides therapeutic or other services to transgender and gender diverse people.

Testimonials

“As a trans nonbinary person myself it was great way to ensure that my knowledge of the trans and gender diverse community is current and can be applied to therapeutic support to others. It was fantastic to know that cis people and allies are being provided with quality and accurate TGD-affirming training, especially because many of the lgbtqia+ community have had negative experiences with mental health in the past.”

Dae, Provisional Psychologist

“Amazing training, helped a lot in explaining complex concepts and gave practical advice on working with this population.”
